Homemade "Sweet Cream" Creamer & My Love for Coffee

Happy wonderful Wednesday! I say that so enthused!  My personal computer crashed, we changed Internet providers, someone cut fibers going into our building at work. I haven't had access to anything the last few days anywhere. (work or home) I didn't realize how much I rely on Internet. Well, onto a post that I had prepared for you!

Don't you just love flavored coffee and creamer? I went online last week and purchased some of my favorite from Barnies. I'm so upset they have taken all the kiosk out locally. I loved stopping in and grabbing a cup while walking and shopping the mall. I prefer Barnies over Starbucks. I purchased a bag of whole bean Java Kalisat and a bag of whole bean  Santa's White Christmas. (It doesn't have to be Christmas time to drink this wonderful flavor. It's good all year round).

Mrs. Happy Homemaker shared a variety of different creamers a couple of months ago.  You can visit her site here. When I came across the sweet cream, I knew immediately, I had to try and make my own. This is the one that I'm addicted too currently!

My mother and I ventured out to Target this past week and I recommended that she try it. She did and loved it. Although her favorite is "White Chocolate Mocha" by International Delight, she really liked my recommendation. The great thing about it? You don't need sugar! Its sweet enough.

Sweet Cream Creamer
  • 14oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 3/4 heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract OR the inside of a vanilla bean, scraped
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Venturing out locally to Jax Beach

My husband and I woke up Saturday morning with nothing to do except to cut the grass and pressure wash the fence. Well, we decided to spend the day enjoying the sunshine out and about instead. We headed south and ended up at Jax Beach. While its only 45-50 minute drive from us, we haven't been there in quite sometime. Once we got there we decided to grab some lunch. We chose Joe's Crab Shack. We ate there often when my hubby and I were dating.

My handsome!

We also stopped in and visited this little cottage shop I found on-line. It's called "Cottage by the Sea". I needed to pick up some Annie Sloan dark wax and this place carries just that!

After shopping around a little we decided to walk, walk and walk.

We seen the Naval Band playing on the boardwalk.

On the way home I wanted something to eat but wasn't quite sure what. We decided on frozen yogurt, but it wasn't as close as Dairy Queen. I know this may sound (un) American, but I don't really like ice cream. I opted for a chocolate dipped cone. Oh my! It was delish! I was really glad I went against my mind/gut and got it.

 It was a beautiful Saturday!

Baby Shower and Banana Split Bar

I had a wonderful opportunity to host my sister in law's baby shower a couple of weeks ago. She is decorating her nursery with a monkey theme, so I decided to put together a banana split bar. Everyone really enjoyed making their own banana splits. It was really a hit.

Mother's Day and a few gift basket ideas

Happy Mother's Day! I hope you all are enjoying your family. I wanted to share a devotion that was a blessing to me!

The Words of a Godly Mother by Dr. Paul Chappell

There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. Proverbs 12:18

When future president Abraham Lincoln was just nine years old, his mother Nancy died after drinking milk from a cow that had eaten a poisonous plant. Through she had only those few years in which to impact his life, she used them well. Later Lincoln would say, “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” But it was not just in her teaching that she touched his life. Lincoln also said, “I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.” As we stop today to honor mothers, it is worth taking a moment to reflect on the power of a mother’s words in the life of a child. In contrast to the good example set by Nancy Lincoln, consider another mother. She was angry and abusive toward her youngest son. When classmates teased him, calling him “Ozzie Rabbit” because he was small and had big ears, she told her son that they were right. The boy’s older brother later said, “We learned very early that we were a burden...she wanted to be free of responsibility.” That boy, Lee Harvey Oswald became a household name when he assassinated President John Kennedy. The words of a mother (indeed the words any of us use toward others) have enormous power. They can deeply wound or they can heal. Knowing this truth, we should be very careful how we speak to others. As Paul wrote, “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man” (Colossians 4:6). Words that we excuse as teasing may cut much deeper than we realize. Words that praise character and effort encourage a child to continue doing right. Today’s Proverbs Precept: If your mother is still living, take the time to thank her for the investments she has made in your life.

I spent the day with my mother and my grandmother. Our family got together after church. My dad  cooked burgers on the grill and we enjoyed ourselves so much. I made my mom a gift basket this year. Also bought her some pretty yellow tulips and a new vase.

I added a couple of sweet pastries, personalized bag of coffee, saucer, mugs, napkin and creamer.

Here are a couple of gift bags I made earlier in the week. (which we ate)

Banana Bread, bag of coffee and homemade honey butter

My boss also got my a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a card. How sweet of him? He's such a thoughtful man.

And my lovely family got me all kind of goodies. My sweet hubby bought me a really nice watch as well... I'm truly blessed by God! So thankful for my family!
